Manoah Biesheuvel is a Scheveningen-based visual artist working across photography and film. Since graduating from HKU University of the Arts Utrecht in 2007, he has developed a multidisciplinary practice rooted in a fascination with the human condition, visual storytelling, and the space between tension and stillness.

With a background in Fine Art, Biesheuvel’s work is driven by observation, reduction, and intuition. He explores what lies beneath the surface—inner unrest, vulnerability, resilience, and the physical and emotional weight we carry. His images often place the human body and its surroundings in moments of quiet tension, creating space for reflection without prescribing a single interpretation.

A restrained and minimal visual language is central to his work. By reducing the image to its essential elements, Biesheuvel creates an atmosphere in which emotion can emerge through gesture, posture, light, space, and silence. Whether working in photography or moving image, his approach is immersive, deliberate, and deeply intuitive.

His artistic practice exists alongside his work as a filmmaker, director, and photographer, allowing ideas to move freely between autonomous fine art and commissioned visual storytelling. Each project begins with a blank canvas and develops through an intuitive process of exploration and precision, resulting in distinct visual narratives that are never predetermined.

In 2026, Biesheuvel presented his photographic work at Hungry Eye Fair x Amsterdam Fashion Week in Amsterdam, exhibiting a selection of his fine art photography to collectors, artists, and an international audience. His work has also received international recognition, including Best Score at the Swindon Independent Film Festival (UK) and Best Documentary Feature at the San Diego IKFF (USA).

His photography and film work have been featured in publications including Marie Claire, Mixmag, Travel + Leisure, &C, and DJMAG.

Alongside his artistic practice, he collaborates with brands and clients through Studio Biesheuvel, creating concept-driven visual work that bridges art and storytelling.
